EPA Indoor Air Quality

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines the causes of indoor air pollution in homes as sources that releases gases or particles into the air. The EPA has also stated that inadequate ventilation can increase indoor pollutant levels by not bringing in enough outdoor air to dilute emissions from indoor sources and by not carrying indoor air pollutants out of the home. High temperature and humidity levels also contribute to the growing concentrations of some pollutants.

The EPA recommends three strategies to improve indoor air quality: source control, improved ventilation, and air cleaners.
