Turf Identification
Bermudagrass
- Medium to fine textured turfgrass. Exhibits a rapid growth rate
- Best adapted to heat and direct sunlight. It also possesses a high tolerance to drought conditions; however, it tends to grow best in moist soils.
- High tolerance to turf insects and diseases.

Buffalograss
- Very fine texture. This grass is a grayish-green color and it's propagated by burrs.
- Best adapted to direct sunlight and it has excellence tolerance to alkaline soils (e.g. clay soils)
- Excellent heat tolerance and drought resistance. Best low temperature tolerance of the warm season turfgrasses.

St. Augustinegrass
- Coarse textured turf grass.
- Best adapted to warm, humid climates.
- Performs well in sun or shade and well-drained soils
- Low tolerance to turf insects and diseases (e.g. brown patch)

Zoysiagrass
- Fine to medium textured turfgrass. The leaf blades are stiff due to a high silica content in the leaves.
- Slow-growing. Medium to light-green in color.
- One of the most widely-adapted warm season turfgrasses.
- Well adapted to a broad range of soil conditions; very tolerant to drought, heat and cold. Does not tolerate compacted or poorly drained soils.
